Recent Advocacy Work

April 7, 2025: YIFA president Mark Herke testified in support of HB 1912, a bill that improves the Climate Commitment Act fuel exemption program for agriculture. We also reached out to members about the bill, encouraging them to record their support of the bill.

April 9, 2025: The Washington State legislature convened in January 2025. Over 2,000 bills were introduced. Dozens of the bills were potentially harmful to agriculture. The Yakima Klickitat Farm Association hired a lobbyist, John Stuhlmiller, for the legislative session. He has weighed in on over 60 bills on our behalf and collaborated with other agricultural organizations on bills covering a wide range of topics that are important to farmers and ranchers.
